  1. Hello

Do you have, or know where I can find, pictures of the Stempner House at 5777 Main Street in Elkridge? I’m conducting a land survey on a nearby property and the location of the original walls of the Stempner House are important to re-establish the boundaries of the nearby property. Thank you. G. 2. Hello and thank you for this website. I am looking for any additional information on “Laffy, Daniel 5800 Elkridge Heights Road (1860’s – 1870’s)” listed above. In 1910 my grandfather’s parents lived in Elkridge for a period of time. My grandfather was 4 years old. I found a note in my grandfather’s hand which stated – ” lived in Elkridge, Old Washington Rd No.1 – one of Laffey’s houses”. I would be very interested in any information about the exact location or holdings of Daniel Laffy, etc. US Census shows Laffy in Elkridge in 1900 as head of household and in 1910 his wife Ellen is listed as head of household living with her son Thomas. The census does not have street addresses. Thank you so much for your time in this matter.

  3. Ms. Morris:

Hello. I’m the archivist at the Elkridge Heritage Society and I can help you. We have info on the Laffy family (which also cross references Sullivan and Kyne histories) and if you would like to visit the EHS to see it, please contact me directly at mary.bahr@peoplepc.com

Thank you for your interest and inquiry.

  4. Can anyone tell me the general or specific location of “Pinkstons Delight” which was
located near Elks Ridge, sold by my ancestor Peter Pinkston to Charles Stevens in 1702.
Evidently 50 acres were later survey and sold in 1731-35 to Mr. William Hammond by Peter’s son William
Pinkston. The name Pinkston Delight seems to have lasted for at least 100 years thereafter
but I can’t seem to find the exact location.

Pinkstons Delight was originally in Baltimore County and was still in that county in 1731.
    Thank You,
    Tom McCabe

    • Have you checked the land records in the Maryland State Archives? I am not an expert on how to search them (https://mdlandrec.net/main/ – you can request an account I believe). I think you need to have an idea of what book to search. Tom Sims (tsims99@verizon.net) helped me – he was able to pull the plats that went with the property I was interested in.

  5. Sorry, a mistake on my last request. William Pinkston sold the property to Philip Hammond, not
Wiliiam Hammond in 1731. The sale document is difficult to read.

    Tom McCabe
